Facilities & Parks
The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for creating and maintaining a system of parks and recreational facilities dedicated to providing quality services to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Odessa.
Aquatic Centers & Swimming Pools

List of Aquatic Centers & Pools
Each Pool will close one day per week for maintenance and heavy-duty cleaning purposes. Thespraygrounds will operate daily.
Pools and Sprayground
- Sherwood Family Aquatic Center (Closed on Tuesdays)
- Woodson Family Aquatic Center (Closed on Thursdays)
- Floyd Gwin Pool (Closed on Wednesdays)
- McKinney Park Sprayground- Will operate daily
- Jurassic Jungle Sprayground- Will operate daily

General Admissions for Pools @ Sherwood and Woodson Family Aquatic Center
- $4.00 for adults
- $2.50 for children
- Free for ages 11 months and under as well as seniors 65 and up
General Admissions for Floyd Gwin
- $3.00 for adults
- $1.50 for Children
- Free for ages 11 months and under as well as seniors 65 and up
Spraygroundsare free and open to the public
FAMILY NIGHT
*$4.50 for a family up to four (4) members. Each additional family member will pay the general admissions gate fee.
Woodson- Tuesday nights 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Sherwood- Thursday nights 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Aquatic Reservations
*The Odessa YMCA will be operating the Pools this summer along with any after-hour rental reservations.To check availability or have any questions please call the YMCA at 432-362-4301.
The following Swimming pools will be available for pool rentals this summer season:
- Woodson Park - $385 per hour
- Sherwood Family Aquatic Center - $385 per hour
- Floyd Gwin Pool- $105 per hour
- Jurassic Jungle Sprayground - $235 per hour

Fishing / Comanche Trail Pond
Note: The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be stocking the Comanche Trails Park Pond with Rainbow Trout tomorrow, December 6th. They will also stock the pond on the following dates, 1/4/2023 and 2/2/2023.
Learn to Fish
Learning to fish is like riding a bicycle. Once your learn how easy and fun it is, you will never forget! Whether you stand in the river or on the side of a pond with a can of worms, or use a boat with state-of-the-art equipment, fishing can be enjoyed by all ages and all skill levels. Even beginner anglers can learn how fun and relaxing fishing can be, and learn life skills in the process. The goal for learning to fish and for our Pond in Odessa is to provide a recreational opportunity and enhance the quality of life available to all Odessa Residents.
Comanche Trail Park Lake
Comanche Trail Park is a long linear park with a West Entrance and a South Entrance. Comanche Trail Park is perfect for disc golfers (3 courses), 3.2 mile trail, and a large Community Fishing Lake. The pond is located at the South Entrance, located at:

Take Me Fishing Event
Learn the basics at our Take Me Fishing Kids Angler Education event, or go out to Comanche Trail Park Pond.
General Everyday Fishing
Fishing License is required for any angler 18 years of age or older. Find out more information about our freshwater pond and the license requirements through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website.
Please note that fishing is not permitted at Memorial Gardens Park (Buffalo Wallow)
Harvest Regulations
There is no minimum length limit; the daily bag limit is 5 trouts.
An angler fishing in a Community Fishing Lake (CFL) may use no more than two poles.

Disc Golf Courses
Recreation opportunities are more than just playgrounds, trails, and sport courts. City of Odessa Parks and Recreation, along with the support of the Odessa Disc Golf Association, maintains and operates three courses. Each course takes you through a variety of challenging shots, beautiful landscape and fun atmosphere with fellow comrades! Disc Golf can provide everyone of any skill level to participate in a bit of competition and fitness, as you walk through the courses, enhancing the quality of life for Odessans and people just passing through.

Disc Golf Rules & Code of Conduct
- Play Smart - Never throw into a blind area or when players, spectators, pedestrians, or other facility users are within range. Use a spotter.
- Respect the Course - Observe all posted rules. No littering, graffiti, or abuse of equipment or flora.
- Represent the Sport - Be positive and responsible. Teach others.
If you can abide by the rules and PDGA Code, you will not only play better, but and build a comradery in the community.

Hike / Bike Trails
Trails are one of the most frequently mentioned and used recreational features in our Park system, and throughout the master planning process. They can benefit everyone in the City, whether they are young or old, bicyclists, active runners or the casual ones who want a quiet stroll in the evening. The goal for trails in Odessa is to identify a connected system of potential corridors for pedestrians and bicyclists in order to provide recreational opportunities as well as transportation choices, enhancing the quality of life available to all Odessa Residents.

Park Hours
Per local ordinance, all parks are open to the public between 6 am and 11 pm.
Article 1-13-3(b): It shall be unlawful for any person or group to be in any public park between the hours of 11 pm and 6 am Moreover, it shall be unlawful for any person or group to have any motorized vehicle in any public park during hours in which such parks are closed to public use. Such curfew and restrictions shall apply to the park area proper and any parking lot of the park adjacent to park grounds.
